Year 2/Day 95

Year 2 - Day 95

It’s been raining for days, and it has been so gloomy.

Thankfully, the sun decided to peak out and say “Hello” for a little while today.  I love how the sun shines and reflects off wet surfaces.  I had a moment to try and capture the beauty before it disappeared.

A wonderful friend from work let us borrow his truck today to move out all our stuff from my storage unit.  Yay!  No more storage payment!!  I’m so glad that’s done and over with.  Now I can use that money towards…rent…oh…darn.

But…I did find all this wonderful fabric that I had forgotten about!  Man was I excited when I saw that.  Some day I’ll have time to quilt again…someday…

I have an awesome boyfriend.  I’ve been so busy and stressed out lately and to make me feel better he ordered me some yummy pizza.  I love pizza.

First day back at the gym.  Eeks.

And I went twice today!  First, I met with a trainer in the afternoon and then went back after work with Michelle.  I’ve got to get back in shape.  I’ve been noticing that I’ve become weaker and stiffer, and I need to make some changes.

My schedule is already full, but if I don’t carve out some time for my health now I’m only creating more problems in the future.

So it begins.

I love noticing things in my environment that often get overlooked.  Do you see it?

A gentle reminder to smile on a day full of errands.

Shake The Dust

Today was a great day!

Work was good (minus the almost unbearable heat) and I made lots ‘o money.

After work, I headed to a place near Grant Park called Grocery on Home.  It’s a cute, small, music venue where I was about to see my favorite spoken word poet, Anis Mojgani.

Wow.  It was a little surreal to see him perform.  I’ve seen so many of his videos, but this was live!  In person!  I actually spoke with him after the show, bought a book (that I apparently already had), and he signed the book.  :)

Mieka Pauley, a musican, also played tonight and she was great too.  I bought a copy of her cd as well, and I can’t wait to learn more about her stuff.

Here’s a link to an interview with Matt Arnett, owner of Grocery on Home.

And if you haven’t seen or read any of Anis Mojgani’s work, please check him out.  I promise you’ll love him!

ATL Collective presents Jeff Buckley – Grace

image

Tonight Will and I saw an amazing show by ATL Collective, Jeff Buckley’s Grace.  ATL Collective is a super tallented collaboration of local musicians who cover albums from start to finish.

This show was no exception.  I first saw them at Eddie’s Attic last year, and that’s how I was introduced to Prisca and Faye Webster.

Tonight I was introduced to a few more musicians that I can’t wait to learn more about – Landon Pigg, Adron, and Marshall Ruffin.

Music is such a beautiful thing.  It seeps into every crack of your soul and vibrates perfectly.
