Day 17

Day 17

Hot.  Very hot today.  But fun.  I dropped off my car at Tires Plus and decided to walk home.  It’s only 1.5 miles, and I figured I would be able to get some fun pictures on the walk.  And I did.

My favorite part was finding this dandelion.  I found it and took a few pictures of it where it grew.  Then, I decided to pluck it and experiment with background colors.

Green grass (ehh).

Concrete (looks like denim).

Pretty purple flower – Winner!

Day 16

Day 16

Standing outside, pumping gas, I noticed the awesome texture the rust made on this gas pump.  I really wish I had my macro lens, though.  Ah well.  I quickly snapped a few shots in hopes of catching a good one, and went on my way.  This was the best one of the bunch.

Day 15

Day 15

This is Larry.  I met him after a rain shower today.  My photo journey started with me sitting on my car, taking pictures of the branch that hangs down over my trunk.  I was playing around with the macro lens, trying to figure it out, when it started to sprinkle.  Oooh…maybe I can get some good droplet shots.  Nope.  Not today.  I headed inside, myself covered in water droplets, without a good photo and hoped to get something later.

After a few hours, I headed back outside to see if I could find something interesting.  I went around looking at the different branches, trying to find an image, and ended up at the bush around the mailbox.  I was getting some fun droplet shots when I noticed him.  He was a little hesitant in his steps due to all the water (I’m assuming of course), but he didn’t run away at the sight of my camera.  Lucky for me!  He seems to be saying “Hello” in this picture, and it just makes me smile.  It’s his eyes…so cute.

Day 14

Day 14

Stopped in an industrial park today and noticed this neat staircase.  Luckily, there weren’t many cars or people around, so I didn’t feel weird about stopping and taking pictures.  I started by taking some close up shots of the rusted areas of metal, and then noticed the neat pattern the stairs made when I looked at them from underneath.  I love when happy accidents occur, such as the sunlight stripes that mirror the stairs.  I really like this shot.

Day 13

Day 13

I ventured into my neighbor’s backyard today.  You know…to see things in a different light…or something.  I’m sure he doesn’t mind, though.  :)  Unfortunately, there were also a ton of mosquitoes in his yard.  Needless to say, I didn’t stay long.  Just long enough to get this shot through the trees.  I love the composition, and the way the sunlight shines through the leaves, illuminating every vein.

Day 12

Day 12

Today was an awesome day for my photography!  Will got me this lens kit for my phone that includes a macro lens.  Yay!  I started playing around with it, and came up with some interesting shots.  I need to figure out how focus it though, because I seem to be having difficulties with it.  Today’s picture seems kinda surreal.  I like it.  What I really like is that it’s hard to tell what the image is.  It allows the imagination to be creative, and the possibilities are endless.

If you’re stumped, and just to curious to let it go…It’s a marble ball wrapped in metal at the end of a wind chime.

Day 11

Day 11

Niki and I revisited the Lion’s Club park again today to explore the trail further, this time with Leeloo.  We found out that the trail goes underneath Rockbridge, and we were both interested to see that.  Wow.  Did it go…and go…and go.  We ended up walking a lot further than expected, but it was a lot of fun.  I ended up taking many, many pictures (over 100 actually), and had a lot of fun.

There was a lot of interesting sights to see.  A small creek flowing under the bridge.  Wooden boardwalks that spanned for miles.  Bunny rabbits not afraid of people.  Flowers, trees, and more flowers.  Beauty all around and in all forms.  It was great.

Funny story about my picture of the day, though.  It wasn’t taken at that park.  :)  I actually took this picture in a parking lot.  I was driving around trying to find a restaurant and noticed these flowers.  I stopped my car, got out, and took a few pictures.  Love it!  Pic of the day.  Sometimes it’s like that.  I just know when I see it that that’ll be the subject for my photo.

Day 10

Day 10

Today was really fun.  Niki and I decided to check the walking trails at a park near the house, and see if they are dog friendly.  I was able to get some really good/interesting shots.  There was also a pretty large baseball field area, and while walking around we stumbled upon this forgotten ball.  I love how dirty it is.  Like it wants to tell a story.

Maybe it was a game ball that got knocked out of the park…

Or some kids were playing and it rolled down the hill, unnoticed…

Either way, I found it that day and took its picture.  It was arranged perfectly under a tree, in a pile of mulch.  Just sitting there…waiting.

Day 9

Day 9

Hmm…what to take a picture of today?  I didn’t go anywhere, so I decided to try and find something interesting to photograph inside the house.  Looking around the living room, I spotted a plastic gumball machine on top of the entertainment center.  Hmm…interesting.

Knowing the lighting inside the house would appear orange-ish, I took the gumball machine outside onto the porch for more of a “natural” feel.  I started by taking some pictures of the whole thing and ended up with a more close-up shot.

Interesting notes about this picture:  I wasn’t too excited about this picture.  It’s ok, but not my best.  Then, my friend on Facebook commented on how much she liked it and thought it would make a good puzzle.  Secondly, a few people mentioned how it looked like a ball-pit.  How fun!

Day 8

Day 8

Today I explored the corner of the backyard, a place I don’t go often.  Two reasons: 1) Mosquitoes from hell 2) I don’t usually play outside much.  :)  Niki has an old shed in the corner of the yard that I’ve always been curious to explore.  This picture is from a ledge on the outside of the shed.  I love the textures that the broken wood makes, and that one leaf looks right at home.

I also ventured next door during this shoot because the neighbors were moving dirt to the backyard, and I was curious they were up to.  Come to find out they were filling in the pool.  Luckily, I was able to get a few interesting pictures of tire tracks in the dirt, along with some other neat pics.
