Day 27

Day 27

Gonna just go ahead a say it…I kinda phoned in today’s picture.  I was getting ready to leave school tonight (around 8:00 pm) and realized I hadn’t taken a picture today.  Crap!  If it gets dark, my options get really diminished because I’m not working with a flash right now.  I started wandering the halls again, and ran into a bulletin board framed in these patches.  Ta-Da!  :) Done!

Some other random thoughts of the day:

I’m really enjoying this creative side of me.  I used to be really opposed to digital photography,  (“Film or nothing!”) but I gotta give it credit now.  I’m able to take HUNDREDS of pictures a day if I wish vs. worrying about the cost of developing my film.

Down side to all this…organization.  Seriously.  I’ve spent hours, and I mean HOURS, trying to figure out the best way to organize all the photos I’ve been taking.  Add to that the constant updates to Facebook, Flickr, and now my blog.

I hope I don’t sound like I’m complaining.  I don’t mean to.  It’s just…time consuming.  Some of it I really enjoy, while some of it is just work.  I’m really enjoying the creative side of digitally altering my photos.  I’ve created some really dramatic, off the wall pictures, and I love it!  :)

Thanks again for joining me in this journey.  I started this blog for myself, but I’m really enjoying the fact that others like it too!  :)

So thank you.

Day 26

Day 26

I decided to play with an abstract photo for today.  I really like the textures and vibrant colors of this one.

For the past month or so, I have been going to Open Mic Night @ Eddie’s Attic every Monday night.  Today was no exception.  :)  I have also noticed that there seems to be a lot of neat things around that place, and have been wanting to go early and take some pictures.  After walking around for a bit, I soon realized this area is downtown Decatur.  So to answer my earlier noted interest…YES!…there are a lot of neat things here.

I got some really interesting shots today, and this one is no exception.

Good pictures, good music, goodnight!

Day 25

Day 25

I decided to take a trip to Jones Bridge Park today in hopes of getting some inspiration from the good ole Chattahoochee.  I did…and didn’t.  I was thinking that there would be more of an opportunity to photograph interesting things at this park…but I seemed stumped.  It may be that it was a Sunday afternoon and the park was VERY full.  It may be that I was not properly dressed to get up close and personal with the river.  It may be some underlying apprehension to push myself into uncomfortable situations to get a good shot.  Not sure.

Either way, it was hot and I didn’t feel like I was getting what I wanted so I left and headed to a place I knew I would get something I liked.  I went back to The Forum where I had taken some great flower shots recently.  Success.  This brightened my spirit and I ended the evening with some delicious Chipotle.  Yum!

The funny part of today’s adventure was that I actually did get some good shots at Jones Bridge Park.  My photo of the day came from there!  :)  Along with some others that I’d love to alter and see what I can get.  It’s all a matter of perspective I suppose.

Day 24

Day 24

Another day, another picture.  Today I hung out with some old TSS friends.  After sitting inside for a while I decided to take a moment and be anti-social.  I had noticed a neat looking wind sculpture in the yard when I got to the house.  Stepping outside I snapped some pictures at different angles.  Pretty neat looking but kinda hard to photograph.  :)  There was this crazy white square structure in the background that kept distracting my focal point.

Thinking about it now…I should of tried taking a picture from the other side of the thing.  Ah well.  I like the balance of this shot.

Day 23

Day 23

Happy 4th of July!

Today started out pretty low key.  I didn’t have any plans for the holiday, just kinda playing it by ear.  Niki decided to head to a friends pool and I tagged along.  Not that I really wanted to swim (I may be a pisces…but I don’t really like to play in water).  :)  I decided it would be nice to get out of the house and get some fresh air.  I brought my book and my camera and off we went.  That’s where I got this picture.

The afternoon was very relaxing and afterward we ran some errands and then headed to Niki’s friends house for a cookout.  Even though I didn’t know many people there it was still a good time.  Kinda made me miss my family though.  (Niki’s friends have a very large, close family)  We hung out there for a little while and then went to meet Amber for some firework watching.  Love fireworks!!  Again I was reminded of Florida as I thought of Siesta Beach’s great firework display.

All in all, fun day.

Day 22

Day 22

Lazy day today.  As I look out the window around 7 tonight I realized…crap…I didn’t take a picture today!  So I grabbed my bottle cap collection and headed outside.  This is what I got.  Not super pleased with it…but at least I took a picture today.  That means something right?  (I ask…umm…myself?)

Day 21

Day 21

I found this gorgeous flower in Will’s yard.  I had to shoot underneath it to really see how pretty it was.  For some reason it was all curled up and facing downward.  Maybe because it was in the heat of the day…maybe because it just didn’t want to show itself.  I’m not sure what kind of flower it is but I love the spots.  I shall call you Leopard Lily.

Day 20

Day 20

Again, another unproductive photography day.  I had class tonight…and I took some pictures of the paintings in the hallway at school.  There are some really textured acrylic paintings that I was trying to get some dramatic shots of but I wasn’t really liking the results.  This was another painting in the hall.  I think it was a birdcage…but this shot is a close up so it’s hard to tell that.  I like the mustardy color.

Day 19

Day 19

Yea!  Another fun macro shot.  I’m really loving this macro photography.  Luckily, I have a lens that allows me to play around with it.  :)  I seem to be getting some better shots lately…although it’s still kinda tricky.

I was exploring the yard again today.  This time, I was headed over to search Rachel’s sunflower for bugs.  She was telling me the other day that she was having a general bug problem, and that got me thinking, “Ooohhh…bugs!”.  Unfortunately, there were no bugs today.  So I started looking around, trying to find something fun to photograph.  Suddenly, I spot an unusually bright spot on the wood fence.  Looking closer I saw him:  a funny looking spikey/fuzzy caterpillar.

Day 18

Day 18

This was the only picture I took today.  Luckily, it came out well.  I went over to a friend’s house to play a zombie-based role-playing game for many, many hours, and it was a lot of fun!!  Playing games like this really sparks up my dice addiction.  I want to go get more dice now…it was so hard not to stop at the game store.  :) Lucky for me, it was late and the store was closed.

I took this picture after we were done for the night, and I realized I probably wouldn’t have another opportunity to take a picture.  Hoping nobody would think I was weird…I snapped a picture that I think captures my evening perfectly.  Anyone who has played games like this knows what went down today.  (…and i didn’t die!!)
