Day 54

Day 54

I love how the center of this flower looks like sugar crystals.  :)  And it’s so…pink!

Today, I had an interview at Starbucks.  Funny thing is, I’ve always wanted to work at Starbucks.  It just sounds fun, and of course there’s the added benefit of free coffee.  The pay is low though, and I’m sure I will not have full time hours for a while.  I have a second interview tomorrow, so at least there’s that.

Interestingly, about a week ago I was jobless with not too many leads.  This week, I start a job at Sprouts on Wednesday and have 3 other prospective jobs waiting for me to say yes.  It’s kind of crazy actually.  The only thing that kinda stinks, is that I’m pretty sure all of them are part time gigs.  So, I need to find a way to fit them together so that it works for me and the employers.

I’m gonna stay positive and hope that some combination of these jobs is what is right for me at this point in my life, and everything will work out great.  For now, I’m gonna take things one day at a time.

And take pictures…always taking pictures.  :)

Day 50

Day 50

Stress.

I know we all have to deal with it, but dang…some days are harder than others.

Luckily, most days I’m pretty optimistic and able to see the bright side.  Fortunately, I’m learning to speak my mind and stand up for what I believe in.  Inevitably, there are days when I’m wrong, and I’m OK with that.  I take those days or situations, and try to learn something from it…try to grow as an individual.  Do I always get it right?  Hell no.  But I keep trying, and learning, and growing.

I’m grateful to have a strong support system full of friends and family that cares about me, and has my back when I need it.  Without all of them, it would be harder to deal with life’s difficulties.

Day 42

Day 42

I have been working on putting together a photography portfolio for hours

Last minute scrambling is never fun, but a prospective photography job is worth the trouble.  :)  I reached out to my friends on Facebook today, asking if anyone knew of any job leads.  A new friend was exceptionally helpful.  He was shopping at JC Penny and noticed that the portrait studio was hiring.  After speaking with the studio manager, he contacted me and explain all the details that he had learned.

Wow…really?  Could I actually work at a photo studio?  Well…why not?!  Sure, I don’t have much “portrait” experience, but I’ve been wanting to grow as a photographer, and this seems like it would be a great opportunity.  So, I dug head first into my photos, trying to find the best ones and created a makeshift portfolio.  I’m sure it could be better organized, or more creatively put together…

But, I’ve got a portfolio!!!

I hope tomorrow goes well, and I hope I get a job soon.

Day 38

Day 38

Looooooong day.

It started off rather unproductive, because I didn’t wake up until around 12:30.  I just kinda hung around the house for a while and finally decided I should do “something” with myself.  So, I got myself ready and went for a 3 mile walk.

I’m trying to get back into better shape by eating better and exercising.  Slow start, but at least I’m doing something.  My roommate and I found this really nice trail that is shady and peaceful, which makes walking not too unpleasant.  After that I showered and got ready to go to a Going Away party for a friend.

The party was pretty fun.  A little on the slow side from time to time, but I met a few nice, new people, so I guess it was worth it.  :)  That’s the best part for me, about going to parties.  Well, that and opportunities to play new (or old) board games.  Hmm…games…I love board games!

After the party, Will and I stopped at Denny’s for some coffee and chatted for a while.  Then, headed home.  By this time, I wasn’t tired (although I should of been) and decided to stay up and watch the sunrise.  It’s been forever since I’ve watched the sun actually rise.

Fun, right?

You’d think so…but eh.  This morning has been a lovely, overcast, gray kinda morning.  Not what I was hoping for.  Poo.

So on that note, I bid you all goodnight and hope for a brighter afternoon.

Day 37

Day 37

I was beginning to wonder if the bumble bees were out this year.  So far, all we’ve seen are wasps and hornets.  To answer my curiosity – yes, they are.

I was in the yard taking pictures today, and noticed these pretty purple flowers.  There was a large, beautiful butterfly that I was trying to capture, but he seemed to be camera shy.  I noticed a few smaller moths, and tried to capture them instead, but they were shy as well.  That’s when I noticed this guy.  Large and in charge.  He was NOT afraid of the camera.  Quite the opposite in fact, I was afraid of him.  :)

Situations like today make me really wish for a nice digital camera with a macro lens.  Sure, I get pretty good shots with my phone…but what could I get with a awesome, actual camera?!  Soon enough I suppose.  Just be patient Brandi, right?  I know I should just be grateful for what I have, because there are a lot of people out there who have much less than me.

So, on that note, I’m a happy girl and I can’t wait to see what other great pictures I can capture in the days to come.

Day 34

Day 34

Like looking into a crystal ball, this sunflower has a lot of secrets to tell.  Unlike fortune telling…I have to wait to see it’s future.  My roommate has planted some gigantic sunflowers in the yard, and I love checking in to see how much it’s grown.  So far, it’s taller than me and still growing.  I can’t wait to take more pictures of it, as the flower starts to bloom.

I really love the textures of the leaves.  It looks prickly…but it’s actually quite soft.  Very interesting plant.

And look!…Larry’s back!  :)

Day 26

Day 26

I decided to play with an abstract photo for today.  I really like the textures and vibrant colors of this one.

For the past month or so, I have been going to Open Mic Night @ Eddie’s Attic every Monday night.  Today was no exception.  :)  I have also noticed that there seems to be a lot of neat things around that place, and have been wanting to go early and take some pictures.  After walking around for a bit, I soon realized this area is downtown Decatur.  So to answer my earlier noted interest…YES!…there are a lot of neat things here.

I got some really interesting shots today, and this one is no exception.

Good pictures, good music, goodnight!

Day 21

Day 21

I found this gorgeous flower in Will’s yard.  I had to shoot underneath it to really see how pretty it was.  For some reason it was all curled up and facing downward.  Maybe because it was in the heat of the day…maybe because it just didn’t want to show itself.  I’m not sure what kind of flower it is but I love the spots.  I shall call you Leopard Lily.

Day 11

Day 11

Niki and I revisited the Lion’s Club park again today to explore the trail further, this time with Leeloo.  We found out that the trail goes underneath Rockbridge, and we were both interested to see that.  Wow.  Did it go…and go…and go.  We ended up walking a lot further than expected, but it was a lot of fun.  I ended up taking many, many pictures (over 100 actually), and had a lot of fun.

There was a lot of interesting sights to see.  A small creek flowing under the bridge.  Wooden boardwalks that spanned for miles.  Bunny rabbits not afraid of people.  Flowers, trees, and more flowers.  Beauty all around and in all forms.  It was great.

Funny story about my picture of the day, though.  It wasn’t taken at that park.  :)  I actually took this picture in a parking lot.  I was driving around trying to find a restaurant and noticed these flowers.  I stopped my car, got out, and took a few pictures.  Love it!  Pic of the day.  Sometimes it’s like that.  I just know when I see it that that’ll be the subject for my photo.
